CAMPSITE RIVEDOUX-PLAGE
As soon as you arrive on the Ile de Ré, don’t be in too much of a hurry to get to the campsite and take the time to discover Rivedoux-Plage! The first stopover as soon as you have crossed the bridge linking La Rochelle to the Ile de Ré, Rivedoux is well worth a visit. The smallest village on the island is a lively, calm and family place where cultural and natural discoveries mingle with seaside pleasures.
A TYPICAL RETAIS VILLAGE AT THE GATES OF THE ISLAND!
After strolling through the small flowered alleyways where the typical white houses with green shutters stand, continue your discovery along the promenade of the port where holidaymakers, passing boaters and anglers meet on the pier. The walk continues in the direction of the oyster parks in the sheltered areas of the Pertuis Breton. Rivedoux-Plage will seduce campers with its gentle way of life and conviviality!
BEACHES, WATER SPORTS AND FISHING ON FOOT IN RIVEDOUX-PLAGE
Rivedoux is home to two beautiful sandy beaches located near the centre. The South beach is a delight for swimmers. There is even a beach club for children! Lovers of water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing will prefer the North beach.
If you are looking for an idea of seaside activities to enjoy with your family, fishing on foot is ideal! Go to the Pointe de Chauveau to collect shells. Off the coast, you will see the Chauveau lighthouse, the only livable lighthouse on the sea in Charente-Maritime, which is distinguished by its “trumpet” shaped construction, inspired by the English model.
WALKS OR BIKE RIDES BETWEEN LAND AND SEA
During your camping holiday, take advantage of your stay in Rivedoux to explore the hiking trails that run between the beaches and the countryside of the back village. On foot or by bike, discover the coastline and head towards the Défend marsh, an area protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Conservatory) which is home to many migratory birds. During your strolls, you will find here and there preserved places where the sea air is invigorating and the scents of the groves very pleasant.
