CAMPSITE LOIX-EN-RÉ
During your camping holiday on the Ile de Ré, make a stop in Loix-en-Ré, the smallest village on the island, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, the Fier d’Ars and the salt marshes. We are used to say that everything small is cute and it is not Loix that will contradict this saying! Nestling in the heart of the salt marshes on the north coast of the Ile de Ré, this “peninsula within the island” charms the visitor with its authenticity, its conviviality and its preserved gentle way of life. These assets make Loix-en-Ré a classified tourist resort and a Cittaslow village where it is good to take your time! On the programme: escapade in the heart of the village, bike ride along the coast, discovery of the fauna and flora of the marshland…
A SMALL CRAFT VILLAGE NESTLED BETWEEN LAND AND SEA
Linked to the rest of the island thanks to two cycle tracks, the village of Loix-en-Ré is a charming stopover typical of the Ile de Ré. After a short break around the square of the Sainte-Catherine church with its square bell tower, go and meet the shopkeepers and craftsmen of Loix who, all year round, will be pleased to open the doors of their shop for you.
Discover the Atelier Quillet, one of the rare bookbinding workshops in France, the honey factory L’Abeille de Ré, honey producer for more than 10 years, Loix & Savons which makes authentic donkey milk soaps or the Chèvrerie Lefort which makes the only goat’s cheese on the Ile de Ré! This is a choice address if you want to bring back memories of your camping holidays on the Ile de Ré!
A SMALL CRAFT VILLAGE NESTLED BETWEEN LAND AND SEA
At the very end of the peninsula of Loix, campers can spend pleasant moments on a small beach of fine sand still little frequented. You will be able to swim in a calm and supervised water in summer. After swimming, take the opportunity to discover the Grouin Battery, a former military fortress from the mid-18th century that overlooks the beach. Good to know: the Grouin fort has now become a private residence and is therefore not open to visitors.
